In traditional education, people classify different subjects like the liberal arts and sciences then subdivide them into various discipline. It is believed that this kind of education would be an effective method to cultivate professionals. interdisciplinary，Therefor this model has been applied by education at all stages. However, the status faced by society are becoming more and more complex. As Dunne (2013) claimed, “Design’s inherent optimism leaves no alternative but it is becoming clear that many of the challenges we face today are unfixable and that the only way to overcome them is by changing our values, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviour.” In many cases, it is impossible to solve the challenges which faced in the present or the future with single subject knowledge. At the same time, such long-term single-disciplinary training has been narrowing people’s horizontal. Hence, under this circumstance, interdisciplinary education should be designed to allow people to integrate knowledge from multiple fields and different perspectives.
To a certain extent, art is a complement to this science-led rational society (like religion), for example, arts can underpin comprehension for the certain phenomena, feelings and emotions which hard to be explained and understood by science. Through that, the boundary of the world can be expanded based on the existing framework.
Extending to a specific area, the art, especially contemporary art has reached a plateau, and people are waiting for a revolutionary change. Firstly, the traditional techniques and the expression modes have developed to a certain height, which leaves art has a slim space to improve, and secondly, the new techniques have not yet been mature or have not yet been effectively integrated, thus making this moment be a period of stagnation but also a period which full of opportunities. I believe, in the future, art will experience an explosion of diverse expressive modes, and significant growth on materials science then breeds fresher interactive pattern. In the present, based on the background of the diversity of artistic expressions, it requires us to be proficient in various fields and combine them smoothly. The ability to fuse different technology skill and media will be a significant standard to measure the artist or designer.
Art stimulates and encourages our innovation and creation, it also makes us have more aesthetic and critical thinking skills. Art is like a mirror to tell us who we are, to remind us why human culture can be existed.
In conclusion, technology enriches the form of art, and art finally helps the public understand some emotions that cannot be explained by rational thinking. Art and science are cooperative, and it more like a modal hybridisation rather than mutual tools.
